I hit a deer
Hit a deer 7 weeks ago. State Farm totaled it. Cost for shop repair was 6,900. Cost of parts about 3,300. Still hashing out a price. They offered 3,300. Of that they'll minus my 500 deductible, charge me 1,200 to keep my truck. That would leave me a check for 1,600.
Out of 20-25 calls I've never spoken to the same person twice. You deal with their ''team''. I hired an independent appraiser. They valued it at 10,700. State Farm started at 8,000 and then whittled it down from there. They got a price for a daily driver in poor condition, then tried to deduct down from there for it being in poor condition, lol. I used the appraisal clause so now it's up to the insurance appraiser and mine to come to an agreement. If not it goes to an umpire. Good news is I found a 1971 short bed for 2,200. Mine was a 72 long bed. The short bed has leaf springs, posi track rear end, sliding back glass, must have been special ordered,it's a Chevrolet c10,spid shows the options. No factory ac but it is a Cheyenne. It's in better condition than my 72. A little roof rust inside, rockers and cab corners need replaced but they aren't in horrible shape. I'll put my 383 in it,my buddy buckets, the 700r4 tranny, ect.
