Stock bench seat storage

So I like my stock bench for now. I have my ride tech valves behind it, took out the gas tank and put it in the back. But the air suspension takes up a fair amount of space. I want to put a stereo in the truck but dont want to cut up the stock dash to put one in. I was thinking about putting one under my seat, while I was looking at it, has anybody cut the front bottom (metal) part of their bench out and weld on a hinge of some sort? Im thinking if I do this I can put the stereo under the drivers side, put a speaker or 2 behind the seat and then 1 speaker in the dash behind the grill. This would still leave some space on the passenger side to keep flares spare qt of oil etc.
