Stick or no stick as we get older

In the very near future I will be putting a LS in my 67.
Right now I have a straight 6 - 292 with 4 on the floor.
I have to say, I love driving the stick, even with a small engine it’s like a little race truck. So I’m really torn on whether to keep the stick or go auto.
I drive the truck about 50% of the time and garage in the winter.
The biggest reason I’m contemplating this is because of my age, I’m 56 and I want to be able to enjoy this truck for the next 25 years. I worry about my knees as I get older and maybe I might just get tired of shifting.
What are your guys thoughts?
Tommy
