How much oil should be lubricating the top end of a 235?
Tonight I was able to plug the filter holes and use a drill to test the oil flow to the top end of my 235 by putting a screwdriver end into the distributor hole and spinning the drill.
Oil came out of each hole in all six rockers slowly. It didn't squirt, just sort of slowly bubbled out Then I realized... I don't know how much oil should be coming out. I've never seen a fresh engine do this test. I assume my drill is spinning slower than the distributor will, so maybe I never will truly see the correct amount, but is a small bubbling up of oil on each rocker good enough for this test so I can start putting things back together?
