Wood bed removal
For several days some members have asked how to remove bed bolts, square nuts etc abnd there were many good responses, just so happened that I was about to start my bed removal and got some good tips on what to do.And what methods to use. As it turns out there are many ways , but it will depend on your truck rust level and your abiities and tools.
Here is what I did and it worked out well.( still got a little to do today but most is done). Here are the tools I used. After squirting BP blaster over night I found the nuts whould still turn the heads of the nuts and it was difficult to get at the square nuts under each channel so.... out came the grinder and sawzall. As I'm replacing the metal strips and the wood with a new kit I ground and sawed like crazy. ( Kind of fun) just watchout for parts you don't want destroyed. I started with the two center baord and worked toward the outer boards. I used the short metal blade with blut end, these are designed for demo work and do not bend as easy, plus you can controll the distance of each stroke. Thanks to all that posted tips, hope my job will help some body. Chris
