1972 blazer fill tube in a SWB
I put in an aluminum take with a HP fuel pump in the rear of my C10. The hard part to all this is how to fill it. The tank still has to have the fill tube welded in so the location of the fill location isn't an issue. I was thinking of cutting a hole in the edge of the bed and running the filler tube up the bedside next to the rear stake pocket. Then using a 1972 blazer fill to add fuel. Just reversing the fill so it fills from the inside of the bed. Then using a cover of some type to support it and clean up the look.
Anyone tried this approach?
Their are many ways to engineer the fill and I have looked at them all. Adding a fill to the side of the box is out. I didn't like the fill on the bottom of the box as one has to reach over the tailgate. I think I could tolerate it if it was a wood bed but mine is steel. I even have looked at the behind the tail light conversion. Still an option but obviously I messed up by not figuring this out before getting the truck painted. I would rate this a my biggest build mistake. Always easier in my mind than in reality.
