Correct engine clamshells for 85 K10 small block truck

Trying to help a buddy out whos trying to put new engine mounts in his truck. The truck is a mutt but the frame is an 85 K10 frame and he has a 383 in it. The old mounts must have been so shot that it didn't matter what clamshells he was using. so now he's trying to put in new stock mounts and absolutely nothing lines up. Mounts are regular stock SBC mount, clamshells are the tall ones that measure 2 3/4" from face (block mount) to centerline of bolt hole. It puts the drivers side way up when the passenger side is bolted in, this is also with the strut spacer behind it. I gave him some shorter clamshells from a 6.5 diesel truck and they were closer but still off, the measure 2 1/4".

Anyone have a clue what could be going wrong? Or if he has the wrong clamshells in general?
