So, if that gauge isn't lying, I'd guess it's not holding pressure
IDK what the exact boiling point would be, but should be north of 240. Could be the cap lets go too soon and then it'd boil immediately at the lowered pressure(of course it could prolly be a dozen other failure scenarios too)
Seems like a pressure test might illuminate/eliminate some things
