In-cab fuel tank mounting pads (1972)

I'm replacing the in-cab tank in my 72 and purchased a few mounting pads from Classic Parts (PN 23-325). I "thought" I was purchasing the large pads akin to the rear cab wall sound deadening, but what showed up was small 3" by 3" (approx) little generic thick tar paper pads that I'll need to use some sort of adhesive to attach to the back of the inner cab wall (or to the tank itself more likely). But when I pre-fit the tank, there don't seem to be any points of contact where the tank body actually contacts the rear cab wall, it only really touches the cab at the actual attach points (and a few non-tapped, protruding parts of the rear cab wall like where the upper mounts are, but just not tapped for tank holders - you can see in the pic between the two upper mounting tabs). So, I'm curious if & where you all have instaleld any of these rather small tank mounting pads - and how (I plan to use 3M HD adhesive, but interested in other ideas as well). Almost makes sense to cut them up and mount between the tank and the cab mount - with the mounting bolts right thru them, but I've just not seen these before, may not need them at all. Thanks for any insight!
