From what I understand, you're suggesting that I keep the existing upper and lower control arms, but replace the ball joints and control arm bushings. After that, I can install the drop spindles and lowering springs. Then I’ll just need to gather all the components for the disc brake conversion—rotors, bearings, seals, backing plate, calipers, and brake lines.

I'll have the truck home on the 24th and will be able to get some pictures after that to verify what's actually going on out front. I did look under the truck and it did have a front sway bar.
Keep the existing arms. Add the disc brake spec BJ's (diff BJ's between disc & drum apps) & disc brake parts (caliper, standard duty 1.25" rotor, bearing, backing plate, brake line) for a 73-80 C10 drop spindle. *AVOID the LT. DUTY/1.00" spindle/rotor combo.*

Since the front is NOT what it's supposed to be, be prepared to possibly do some adapting as it's a possibility for the tie-rod ends.

Just renove the current brakes from the a-arms & see how the arms pivot. Wiggle them (both top & bottom units) for side to side/back & forth play. If they feel fine, clean them & use them. If you feel slop, rebuild them as needed.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.
