Am I getting Hosed? SM465 4speed - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I've got a 71 GMC C3500 1Ton Dually 350 w/sm465 4 speed. My tranny locked up in 2nd gear so I pulled it and dropped it off to my local garage to have it rebuilt. Now the Machanic calls and says he can't order new syncros for it and is now looking for some good used ones and he thinks he has some laying around if he can find them.

Now it's my understanding that the SM465 was used from 1968 to about 1991 so how can syncros not be avalible for it, NAPA or somebody must have parts for it? Am I getting taken for a ride here?
