I went to the body shop this morning. I went to school with the owner & my dad used to work for his dad so we know each other pretty good. he also knows what I want.
he said that to help avoid the possibility of them calling it a total loss I should account for everything I have done so far. this is not an easy task as I have changed &/or rebuilt the whole truck except for the body work. (71swb4x4 can attest to this) he said to even figure the book time for all of my labor. just doing the engine & trans rebuild comes to about $3000 in labor alone. I think I will have to borrow the old labor time guide from work when the adjuster comes to visit. he also said to make sure they know that I will not settle for a total loss. (this is my time to be a polite prick)
my new question is should I have him straighten the frame or replace it? (from visual inspection he said it was off by about 1 inch) I was thinking that since I have the spare cab then I could set up the new frame & start my "build-up" while driving my lefty. <I call it that since the front is now looking to the left>
