questions about 700R4 swap

I am thinking of doing this swap.I have the Granny 4 speed in it now.
I have an automatic column from a van,and the 700R4 which needs rebuilt.I am wondering what you guys did for the lockup converter when you did this swap.Is there a switch,or conversion that will make this operate correctly?Or better yet a stock part from a later year that I can make work?

Also,I have a auto crossmember, and the linkage. How much modification is going to be needed in this area?

The guy building the trans for me says the linkage will work, but I just won't have 1st,and the rest of it will be fine.Looking for conformation more than anything I guess.

Anything else I need to be aware of?

Thanks
