Question HELP can I replace a NP208 with a NP207

I have a 88 GMC Suburban Diesel 4x4 with the 700r4 and NP208C transfer case, over a month ago the transfer case went belly up on me, purchased a replacement from another member of this group but greyhound (he shipped it through them) has lost it - was supposed to be here over 2 weeks ago , the person doing the tracing of it told me today to go ahead and file a claim (which means I will never see it) because they can not locate it any where.

I have to have my burban up this week but the only t/c's locally that I can find within my budget are the 207's from the S-10 with the 700r4, so my questions are (keeping in mind that this is only a temp fix (until I rebuildand four wheel drive will not be engaged):

Will it fit?

will I have to do any mods to make it work?

will I have to replace the rear driveshaft (not worried about the front at this time)

Or if someone in Georgia has a 208 cheap give me a yell - while I enjoy driving my 65 T-Bird it is not done yet, and it uses twice the amount of fuel my burban does.

Thanks in advance.
