Key in ACC or On position - tries to crank

I put a battery in my truck this evening for the first time since tearing it apart and doing the swap. I don't have the wires hooked up to the distributor or to the alternator yet - I just wanted to see if the gauges would light up and if the headlights would work.

When I put the key in the on but not cranking postion and in the ACC position, it cranks the starter. I do have a remote selenoid and I believe it is wired correctly.

Any thoughts with why this might be happening?

P.S. dash lights work, but no headlights, but that might be because the floor dimmer switch is not hooked up yet (can't find it yet )
