well i think i finaly figured it out. the engine mount to frame brackets i was using were off an 85. today i finaly got to look at a 76 and an 85 next to each other and i noticed that the frame brackets are drasticly different. i personaly beleive that this was because of the exaust manafolds but anyway the [73-80?] brackets make the engine sit aprox 2in higher that the [80?-87] brackets do. this accounts for the 2 inches i was having a problem with and will hopefully fix the problem. i'll find out whan i get the brackets in the comming week. my only hope is i don't have to modify anything.

Let me know how this turns out. Like I said, I used an 80 crossmember and I am having the same problem with the engine sitting too high. I might have a newer set of engine brackets "somewhere".
