I know there are about 50 threads on this, but I haven't seen one that really describes how to do it. I'd hate to buy a new blazer tank and it be a pain in the you know what to put it in. I have a 67 swb, short wheel base here in the South
,STEPSIDE truck. If the tank fits between the frame rails where the spare tire should go, do any crossmembers need to be removed, moved or slightly modified? Where does the filler neck come out of the tank? A stepside bed drops below the wood floor several inches on the sides, will this need to be cut??? What about mounting it? If I purchase the stock blazer straps will these bolt to current members, or do i need to make something? I plan on buyin a cool cap, they were recently featured in classic trucks magazine, and put it in the driver side fender on the flat panel on the side in the rear. If I use this set up, cool caps don't have a filler neck vent, how can I vent my tank without dirt getting into the tank. CT didn't address that in the article, they just mentioned you need to somehow vent it...some "how to" article, huh? I want to use a blazer tank because the sending unit will work with my stock gage...right??, and I figure the swap to cost about $375, that would be tank, sending unit, new hoses and lines, and cool cap.
Anyway, any stepside guys out there who have done this swap, your input would be greatly appreciative. Also, pictures would be even better, especially ones with the bed off....
