Tilt Columns

Hey Guys,
I am considering a tilt column for my 68. I hear alot about the use of Van columns being used as well but I would like to be sure I'm getting a genuine truck column. Are there many alterations needed to use the van column? Will the bracket on the fire wall line up with dimples ? The stock truck column has a couple pieces of metal that act as stops so you can align the length at the firewall bracket and tilt it toward the engine or toward the fender.
Thanks
