Factory Tach Instrument Cluster

I keep seeing these instrument clusters with the factory tach pop up on eBay and various places, but after thinking about it over a period of time realized that these likely only work for 8 cylinder engines.

I'm just guessing, but most test instruments that read rpms have a setting for 4 & 8 cylinders or 6 cylinders. Does this mean the factory tach doesn't read accurately with the 6 cylinder? Anyone know if there was a factory tach specifically for the L6's?

I tried the search, but it doesn't recognise the search terms "6", "L6", "six", "250", "292", or anything with 3 letters or less. From now on, I'll start using "inline" or "six-cylinder" to make searching easier.
