newbie to the 4x4 world...4" lift questions

hey guys im looking into a 4 inch lift for my 71 gmc halfton...its out of a 69-72 blazer...would it work on my truck? also is a 4 inch block a bit much? or do a lot of guys use blocks that tall? also the springs on the front, are they the same as a truck spring, and will driveshafts be an issue? do they need to be lengthened? im not a serious off roaded, the main reason i want a lift is to give the truck a tough look and so i can fit bigger tires, i do 4 wheel a bit but its mostly used when the roads get crappy up here...oh and do you need a drop pitman arm with a 4 inch lift ? from what i understand you can get by with a stock pitman arm but with the drop is recommended...im probably way off with what i think i know so can the guys with the right knowledge help me out here...sorry for rambling on and on

Derek
