Squeak and Clang ?

Ok, my truck makes this squeak noise when I drive. More of something spinning that is causing the squeaking.
Second, it "clangs" when I got from reverse to drive (and back and forth and back.......). I had my girl shift back and forth for me so that I could lay down next to the truck and listen to see from where the clang is coming from. Get this... it's coming from in front of the transmission. I don't know where exactly, but it's not a u-joint. I can pretty much rule out everything from the transmission pan back. This is driving me nuts.
And I can't tell if the squeak and clang go together or not since I have to be moving for it to squeak.
What is in front of the trans that could be clanging and squeaking?
