Odd part
I have been playing with trucks for about 13 years now and saw something today that I don't recall seeing before. Local junkyard got in a 73 Suburban - nothing unusual at first glance however on the second go round it got wierd. Glove box sticker said Model 10906 - 1/2t burb 2 wheel drive. Listed a 454 V-8 (no problem). Looked under the hood - there sits a non-Chev motor that has the hei mounted up front and an almost recessed intake manifold - maybe Buick - but doesn't look like most Buicks i've seen. This thing looked so good it looked FACTORY installed. I have seen some pretty messed up swaps but this was good.
Now for the odd part. The motor mount stands or frame stands were totally different than the normal P/U or Burb 2wd pieces. These things "looked factory" stamped with ribs and everything but were way longer(front to back) than normal - they had 3 bolts to mount to the frame and went forward to pick up the mounts of this engine. Are these diesel pieces that somebody used? I guess I haven't looked at too many diesels to know if this part changes for gas engines. Anyway it was a different part than I am used to seeing. Can anybody shed some light on this? Thanks - Bob
