I have 1971 plates on my 71 burb. In MN the rules are pretty good. I can make it a lifetime plate by limiting my driving to 2500 miles per year and only on weekends type of thing. OR I can continue to pay the minimum "tabs" cost each year and drive it as a daily driver. They don't actually give you tabs for the plates, I get a proof of payment card to carry in the vehicle just in case the cops pull me over.
The vintage plates do need to be in a different numbering sequence than they are currently using. In MN it is (123 ABC = 3 numbers 3 alphas) or (abc 123 = 3 alphas 3 numbers). My 71 plate is mixed alpha + numbers.
