Front Spring Replacement

Is there enough room to remove a front spring by separating the upper ball joint, or do you have to take off the u-bolts that hold the a-arm on?

I know this has been discussed several times, but I don't remember. It looks like the brake hose will keep the arm from dropping enough to get the spring out.

Thanks
