TH350 problems

hey everybody, i've got a problem that's got me scratching my head.

i have a th350 tranny mated to an np205 transfer case. the tranny leaks fluid and the PO said that he just kept adding fluid... the tranny started slipping in reverse just recently so i figuered it needed fluid (i hadn't added any yet). when i went to put fluid in, the dipstick showed that there was plenty of fluid. i know that you shouldn't overfill and auto tranny so i don't know what to do. i know my first job should be to fix the leak and i intend to this weekend but what about the fluid level???

any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks
