seat question (bolting down seats)
Yesterday I picked up some Honda seats from a junkyard. I'm going to put these in my truck, but the brackets under the slider rails would need to be modified. Instead, I'd like to cut these L-shaped brackets off at the rivets, make my own brackets, and then using grade 8 bolts, bolt them to the seat rails. The rivets are about 1/4" in dia. with 2 going through each bracket. I've looked at many different models of seats from different cars and they're pretty much bracketed all the same (so you know what I'm referring to). Would you guys do this or would this be unsafe? I figure it's okay because the seatbelt is doing all the work of holding me in place, and not the actual seat itself.
(btw, I will be selling my Mazda 626 seats cheap if anyone is interested) ------------------ WOU in Monmouth, Or 68 Camaro,250(No,I'm not putting in a 350!) 67,LWB,250(Again, I'm not putting in a 350!) a work in progress "Praise The Lowered" [This message has been edited by Brad (edited April 11, 2002).]
