Window to door insulation strip

Painting tomorrow and I need to know this before I do.
The rubber that goes around the door window opening (not door to cab) - does it go all the way to the top of the vent window post, or does it stop about 4" away. I only have one door to use as a guide, and the rubber doesn't go all the way to the vent window post. Looks like it was made that way, as it has a sharp cut-off edge to it and is not rotted.??
Thanks
