GenIII (LS1, Vortec, whatever!) Help: Power Steering Pressure?

I was THIS close to driving my truck for the first time since July tonight. While backing it out of the bay, there was no power steering; we added fluid, went another two feet and noticed a puddle of foamy power steering fluid. It appears to have blown out the seal where the shaft goes into the gearbox.

So, does anything special need to be done to the power steering pump and/or the gearbox? Is there a restrictor we can put in to lower the pressure of the pump? Or is there a gearbox that will take the higher pressure?
