Question Gas tank question...

Well everyone I have finally gotten around to working on this thing again. Anyways, The tanks have got to be so clogged up on this thing. And I don't have the money to buy new ones right now. So I was wondering what should I do to get these back in decent shape? I mean can you even clean these things out and what about the sending unit? Is that capable of being cleaned of all the sediment and sludge that is in this tank? I have heard about some kind of sock that fits around the pickup on the sending unit. If that is nasty can you buy a new sock or what? Also if anyone has cleaned one out and been successful please tell me what you used to clean it and how you did it...Thanks much...Mike
