'82 GMC backyard tub job ?s

i think the longbed is about due for some slightly more massive tire...so here is my idea...
i wanna box my rails and move the existing leafs inboard, switching the hangers and shackles so i could still use the stock pieces. has anyone ever tried this? i wanna do this and relocate my shocks so that i can run tire from bodyline to framerail. that outta let me run some MASSIVE rubber if im looking at it right. also, if i do this and do a flip at the same time will i have to C notch?
thanks for any input
later
Dan
