Need help with starter, QUICK!

I was planning on taking my 3 year-old fishing this morning but I went out to start the truck and got nothing. No turn over, no clicking, nothing but the brake light on the dash. I have a new battery. I also have a starter cut off switch but it is on. The solenoid will usually engage with the cut off switch turned off, but right now, it does not engage even with the switch on. Does it sound like the solenoid or starter is bad? The last few times I've driven the truck I've had to turn the key a few times before it would even try to start. I had a leaky valve cover that completely soaked the starter with oil, could that cause connection problems? Is there something under the dash I should check? My son thanks you in advance.
