Exclamation Help: probably ??? beaten to death: Vent Window Rivets?

how do these things work.... i've never done this before?
everyone seems to think this is a PITA. but i need to replace the weatherstrip as it is all "dry-rotted"

i searched but no "true explination" of which rivets actually have to be removed and which don't and if some of them can be replaced with regular pop rivets vs. orginals anyone know which can be replaced with regual pops? other than the "pivot rivot" - i know that one is the "crush style" or whatever you want to call it

do you hammer on them till they "flare out"
i thought i saw something written by GMCPaul to cut the tool and then weld it to a C-clamp and use that to "crush" the rivets?
what size C-clamp? a small one i'm assuming (2-4") so that you can get it inbetween the window?

Thanks in advance - sorry if it has been asked a 1k times..but in my search i didn't find "how to properly use the tool" and which rivots needed to be removed....i didn't know if you have to do them all or not
