Disc dust shields?

Somehow I misplaced my dust shields from the '72 front end that I am installing onto my '70. I'm betting they aren't required to be there, but I'd like to put something back in place the way it was. I think I read something on here before where someone was able to take disc brake dust shields from another newer year pickup, and with a little modification they would fit into the 3 holes of the '72 spindle? I can't find that thread though, even using the google search of the site.
