hotrodmtodd Broken Down In VA

We will call this story: Good Luck Vs. Bad Luck. Through the miracles of technology, I am writing this safe and sound from my fathers home in Williamsburg VA. Good luck: My 11 year old son John and I are on a road trip to pickup my Dads tow dolly here and then go pickup the '68 Burb I bought in Glen Burnie, MD. Got here no problem, saw Dad off to Atlanta for 2 weeks. Spent all day yesterday out on the Atlantic open kayaking. Bad Luck: Got HARSH sunburn on feet (and everywhere else too), on way back to W-burg, my less than 2 year old, $332 Carter fuel pump went south on the S-10. Good luck: UNDER WARRANTY. Broke 3/4 mile from Dads house. Bad Luck: First 1/2 mile of pushing went well until that little hill. We passed 2 able bodied guys in their yards who were content watching me and the 11 year old push the 2-ton truck uphill. When we stopped, the one came over and said, "Duh, do you need help?" I fought off the urge to say, "yeah, 50 feet ago when I passed your house". Walked the rest of the way to Dads. Good Luck: Door was open at Dads, neighbor with BIG son was home and went back with us to help push. Got it to Dads driveway. Keys were in mini-van. Drove to Advance, new pump will be here in morning. Dads mechanic squeezed us in (I did it the first 2 times, WITHOUT the sunburn). AAA came within the hour. Bad Luck: Burb guy will not be home tomorrow so we will have to wait until FRI to pick it up now. ALL in ALL: I think Good Luck won. We could have been ALOT worse places with ALOT less help (except those 2 guys!) We will take 2 steps forward and 1 step back ANYDAY! I guess that's why they call it counting your blessings. Hopefully, the rest of the trip will be a breeze. (towing the S-10 with the Burb, by the way) Keep me and Johnny in your thoughts and prayers. Take care, Hot Rod (Mike)
