Question about "Rally" Wheels

Please excuse my ignorance, but could someone please explain to me just what exactly a "rally" wheel (as it came from the factory) is? Someone offered to sell me a set (I haven't seen them), but said they needed to be repainted. Were the true Rally wheels chrome, painted, what? Were they just a straight steel rim with a bunch of chrome trim pieces? Did they come in different sizes (widths)? If they were painted, were they painted a specific color? I would appreciate someone bringing me up to speed on exactly what a Rally wheel is. If someone could provide a close up picture of a Rally, that would be great. Thanks much.
