removing interior pieces?

i ruined my cig. lighter removing it, and figured i was on a roll when i couldn't get the ignition out. the manual says insert a piece of wire into the hole and make sure the key is on acc... ok step one complete. then rotate counterclockwise... it didn't move and i was waiting for it to move so "the lock cylinder will come out." well like i said the key wouldn't move and i didn't want to ruin my ignition, so how do i get it out?
