'67 steering issue

Well, I test-fit some 20's on my '67 fleetside shorty up front and drove it around the neighborhood. No rubbing issues, but on the way home the steering started whining in a high-pitched manner. Been checking ECE and LMC and do the '67's not have a PS pump?? All the quick-ratio steering boxes start at '68? What's up with that? I'm pretty sure my truck has power steering, so where's the pump located? I know where the steering box is and it looks like it would be a piece of cake replace, but I don't wanna replace it if I don't have to. Any ideas on where to start looking for the problem?
