What tool makes unbolting the torque converter from the flexplate easiest?

Just as the subject states, unbolting the torque converter from the flexplate is tough for me. I can't get a 3/8 socket/ratchet between the block and flexplate to get to the bolt. and the bolts seem to be a bit recessed towards the tranny on my 283/th-400 so I can't get a good grip with a combo wrench.

What do you all use?

Also, on my turbo 400 there is one orange/black wire coming out of it from a plug on the tranny. It went to nowhere, should it go somewhere?

Thanks!
