A Few Q's...
First off, I am pretty much new to this place. I have been coming to the boards everyday for the past couple of weeks, so I finally decided to post.
I recently traded my 1991 cr125(with cash to boot) for a 69 GMC. It is purple with silver flames and has a welded tailgate and rollpan. 350 out of a 71 chevelle, balanced and blueprinted, ported and polished heads, 10:1 compression, high lift cam, edelbrock performer intake, signiture air cleaner, and elite valve covers, hedman headers, hurst promatic 2, 3000 stall, stage 3 shift kit, autometer guages. Should be getting the appraisal back monday, the appraiser said it will be between 9,000 and 11,000 canadian dollars. Anyway, on to my questions. The first is regarding bucket seats. Is there any particular car or truck that I might find with buckets with a similar seat height as the stock bench that my truck has? Another thing I am looking into is the stereo. The truck curently has a really old cd player with 2-6" speakers and a 100 watt amp. I would like to swap everything from my other truck to this one but I'm not sure if it will fit. My other truck has: -Pioneer 40x4 deck -2 - 6" triaxials -2 - 4" coaxials -2 - 8" subs and tweeters in a truck/hatchback box running off a 200 watt amp. -A koss 8" bass tube with 200 watt built in amp. I am looking for any ideas to make a complete swap. Any ideas for where to position everything? The current amp in it is under the dash and doesn't really fit there that well. I was thinking of putting the bass tube between buckets(if I get some), chop the box with the 8"s in half and put them under the seat. I have to make a box to enclose the shifter(because it is just mounted on a metal bracket), so I was thinking of putting a few speakers in that. Other than that I am pretty much lost as to where I should put everything else. Another question is regarding the rear end. It currently has the stock 3.08 and is a little slow off the line. The truck doesn't really start to pull hard until about 3300 rpm(and only pushes it to low 16's in the 1/4). With the 3.08's the engine usually starts at around 2400 when I punch it off the line and works its way up slowly. The big issue here is that I don't want to sacrafice fuel mileage for a little extra performance. Right now I am getting about 16.5 miles to the gallon at 70mph. The truck only revs at 3000 rpm doing 80. I think this is where the 3000 stall comes in. If I put in something like 3.73's on it, would I lower my fuel mileage if I can still do about 70 on the highway? How much would 3.73's take off my ET? Hopefully pics to come soon, scanner needs repair first. |
