Bad Fuel Smell - Suggestions Please

I just installed my blazer tank into my C10. My filler neck has a vent hose that attaches to the vent hose on the tank by the main filler neck. There are two smaller vent tubes which I connected to the Charcoal cansister which I mounted next to the tank in the back. The problem is the smell of raw gas is coming from the charcoal canister, as it is the open vent. Is there a better way to get rid of the smell, such as capping off the two small vent tubes or something else to use in place of the canister. Thanks for your help.
