Edelbrock Carb questions

Question #1:

How bad is it to run flexible fuel tubing from the fuel pump right up to the carb? It just occurred to me that although new tubing, if it was to leak onto a hot engine and ignite... hmm, I think that'd be bad. Is this an accident waiting to happen? What is everyone using to go to their 1406 from the fuel pump?

Question #2:

On the throttle linkage, there is a rod that connects to the pump in the carburetor and three holes to choose from. It seems this would change the pivot point and give more or less throttle, and make the carb more fuel sensitive? What hole do you have your linkage attached to?
