68 Rear Wheel Bearings

Have a 68 GMC pick-up that has blown rear seals in the axel. I have some concern with the rear axel bearings being shot as well. According to the book there are three kinds of bearings: drop in (easy to do), press in (still easy for me to do ), and machine pressed in (need to go to the dealer or garage to have them do it).

My question: how can I tell if the bearings are press in or machine press in. Short of wailing on it with an impact hammer and seeing if I can get them out?

Many thanks!!
