68 Fleet Side - To Buy or Not to Buy....help needed

My dilemma....to purchase a 68 SWB Fleetside, or not.

Sorry...don't have pics.

SWB, fleetside
Rust in rockers & some pinholes in cab floor.
Left door & fender = junk - dented (a front clip, rad support, & left door come with truck -same color too!)
6 cyl, 3 on the tree, drum brakes, no power anything
Do not know if engine runs or not
Has 35,xxx miles - believe this to be actual mileage - original seat and pedals are not worn.
V8, unknown size, that has 45K on a rebuild comes with the truck.
Price is 1000.

I am debating about buying the truck, swapping out the door & fender, dumping the V8 in it, add some dual exhaust, and selling for 2500....

Thoughts?? What is the down side? hehhe...I know what the up side is.....

I have the cash....but the cash was earmarked for primer & paint for my 67 SWB fleetside...........
