Question Smoking deal 454

Ok,a very good friend of mine has a 454 he just picked up-it has 145-150 compression accross the board, super clean in and out 8qt oil pan ect ect.He offered it to me for a very good price-----My question---will this kill my ever being able to sell it someday ----for my next project of course----
I am sure we all know a warmed over small block is capable of some very poor mpg also. With the $3.00 gas we probably are all looking for cheaper alternatives.
I personally love a BB for the torque.
