K&N Air Filter Questions
I drove my truck through some particularly nasty dust storms this summer. It inspired me to recharged my K&N air filter this past weekend. I'd like to poll some opinions on the suggestions they make from other K&N owners (Especially the folks from the dusty Southwest). I'm wondering about this paragraph from the recharge instructions:
1) Service every 50,000 -100,000 miles on street driven applications. 2) Service often in off-road or heavy dust conditions or when air filter reaches 18" of restrictions. 3) Let the dirt "build-up" work for you; it will not hurt the performance and actually help filter the air. The poll queireis how many of you let that filter go the full 100,000 miles. Also, just what is "18" of restrictions" Surely they don't mean a layer of crud 18" inches thick! And how does a build-up of dirt actually improve air filter performance?
