water in cab

i went out to take the seat out of my 72 yesterday and to my surpirze when i raised up the passanger seat, theres water bout 3 inches deep in the rear corner of my cab. 1st question is where could the water be comming from, i mean i know its rained recently so its leaked in from somewhere. 2nd question is would it be safe just to drill a drain hole and let it out so it can drain all the time???
