Question Oil Pressure switch/sensor common problem?

OK so I got in my 90 4wd burb and drove 13 hours yesterday from King, NC to Memphis, TN. Engine ran awesome, 17 MPG ran like a top. Get here and my oil pressure sensor is showing low. No lights just the gauge. No valve train noise, runs like new. Is the oil pressure switch a common or semi common fault on the 5.7 - 350 ? I am thinking its just the gauge itself and have been told this by others here, just want to run this by you guys.
