What a manifolding development!

I test fit my vortec and 5 speed tranny today, only to find that the factory vortec manifolds are extremely close to the frame rails where the exhaust pipes attach. I tried the factory manifolds from my 78 corvette and when tightened against the block there are "ears" on the vette manifolds that hit the edge of the valve covers. So it appears that I will either have to grind these square castings off the vette manifolds to use them or I will have to purchase headers for the truck or some other manifolds.

What do you guys recomend? I can afford headers so that is not really the issue. My question is should I try to run these vette manifolds or just go the easy route and buy headers? Engine is basically a stock 98 vortec engine from a tahoe.

Thanks for the help, and have a great new year. Monday is back to the grindstone for me.
