Question roller bearing spindle adpt.

Hey guys, I'm trying to install disk brake front end on the original spindles of my '48 chevy 1/2t pickup. The kit I bought from CPP came with adpts to install the new roller bearings onto my spindles , but the only problem is they wont go on all the way. I have tried heating the adpt , sanding the spindle, putting the adpt. into boiling water for appx. 5 min. (like the instructions say)but no go all the way. it stays about 3/8" from seating on the spindle. Any suggestions? I'm all ears!!!!! Thanx
