Starter not fitting properly!
l replaced my starter with one from AutoZone (#DL3635S) yesterday. After starting her up there was a tinny ticking sound. I removed the flywheel cover and saw that the flywheel was very lightly making contact with roller on the starter shaft.
If the starter could go inward just slightly it would clear the flywheel. There are no bushings or shims installed, and the two bolts holding the starter in place offer no lateral adjustment. Picture shows where flywheel is contacting starter. Has anyone else experienced this? The truck was 28 years old when I bought her, only God knows if the flywheel and bell housing are original. PLEASE HELP
